When you have asked what
it all means, the deconstruction
of a poem, I search in vain
for words that convey
more than those already there.
Tendrils entwine
each and every
one with meaning
beyond the surface
coolness
of my crafted reveries.
And when left alone in their
links of colored paper,
you can hear them ring
like plangent waves.

Sometimes I feel its best to just allow a poem to was over you and not try and 'figure it out', but everyone does not agree with this opinion.
I agree with you, Denise. Often with multiple readings, a poem will open itself to you and resonate.
The form and silence in the photograph also resonate with these words...the difference between MacLeish's "Ars Poetica" and Horace's :)
Rebekah,
MacLeish's "Ars Poetica" never fails to move me- and its iconic last line ..
